The Terps defeated the Washington Huskies, winning all four rotations and finishing with a final score of 195.725 to Washington’s 194.650, on Friday night.
Maryland started its first rotation on uneven bars, its third-best event of the night, with an overall score of 48.850. Senior Rhea LeBlanc led the Terps in this event with the best score of 9.850.
In the second rotation, the Terps excelled on vault with a score of 49.125. Sophomore Logan Buckmon started strong with a 9.850, followed by freshman Rayna Engelmayer with a 9.825. Both set new career highs with their scores. Sophomore Natalie Martin had the best score of the event with an almost-perfect 9.925.
One of Maryland’s best events was up next, floor which trailed behind vault as the second-best event of the night with a score of 48.975. Martin and graduate student Alexa Rothenbuescher were the only gymnasts to score above 9.800. Rothenbuescher led with a 9.875
The Terps finished strong in their last event, beam, with a final score of 48.775. Junior Madeline Komoroski closed out the rotation with the best score of 9.850.
With strong performances across all four rotations, the Terps will return home for their next meet against Iowa on Feb. 21, looking to build on this excellent victory.
