No. 8 Maryland (3-1) heads to its first away game of the season against No. 13 James Madison (4-1). The Terps defeated JMU twice last season – 11-8 in the regular season and again in May, 17-7.

The Terps are having a great start to their season, only losing the season opener against Syracuse before earning three straight wins.

In their most recent win against Denver, the Terps struggled with draw controls in the second quarter, which gave Denver the upper hand, but not for long as they regained control in the third quarter.

Junior Kori Edmondson and graduate student Chrissy Thomas have been vital players for the Terps’ offense and played a key role in the victory against Denver – Edmondson with four goals and two assists, and Thomas with two goals and two assists.

The Dukes, with only one loss, also dropped their season opener but bounced back with four straight wins, including their most recent ranked victory against No. 5 Florida.

Junior Madison Epke leads the Dukes’ offense with 23 points and is third in all-time draw controls in program history with 250. She also recorded her season high of 18 draw controls against Florida, something the Terps will need to challenge.

Defensively, the Dukes have junior goalkeeper Caitlin Boden, who is ranked 18th in all-time saves in JMU history after recording 164 last year.

Historically, Maryland has dominated the matchup, losing only five of 22 games since 1999.

The Dukes and Terps could be in for a good battle, with both teams entering the game on a winning streak early in the season.

The two teams will go head-to-head at James Madison at noon.
