Maryland baseball (3-4) take on the Princeton Tigers (0-4) at noon on Friday and again at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday to kick off their weekend in Winston-Salem. The Terps follow that with their first ranked test of the year with games against No. 12 Wake Forest on Saturday at 3 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.

The Terps’ pitching has struggled so far this year, giving up forty-four runs in their last four games. After Tuesday’s loss to Delaware, head coach Matt Swope said, “We haven’t put one game together where we played all three stages.”

On the other side, Princeton has not had a game to go its way this season. The Tigers have only played one team, the Miami Hurricanes, and have put up five runs in their four games while allowing thirty-six runs.

The player to watch for Princeton is junior Jake Bold who has been the most efficient hitter so far this season for the Tigers and also has a home run against the Hurricanes.

The Terps will finish their weekend against Wake Forest who are 8-1 entering the weekend. The one loss – a 0-4 loss to UNC Greensboro in a midweek game. The pitching staff has been dominant, only allowing twenty-eight runs in all of their nine games combined.

Maryland is looking for their pitching and defense to start strong as they have let up a first-inning run in five of their seven games so far.

For the Terps offense, senior Alex Calarco and sophomore Brayden Martin are coming into this game red-hot. Calarco has a home run in five of the seven games, including three grand slams on the season. Martin, currently hitting lead-off, has an on-base percentage of .516 on the season.

Wake Forest’s strong points will be their bullpen with Logan Lunceford, Matthew Dallas and Blake Morningstar all having two wins on the season. Offensively, batters Kade Lewis and Marek Houston both hold an over .400 batting average. Additionally, Ethan Conrad, Dalton Waltz, and Antonio Morales are all batting above .300.

You can hear the Terps play the Princeton Tigers on the Maryland Baseball Network, and you can watch the Terps play the Wake Forest Demon Deacons at ACCNX.
