A trio of Maryland women’s basketball players have entered the transfer portal since the Terps fell to Iowa State on the opening day of the NCAA tournament.

Graduate senior Faith Masonius announced on Monday she was entering the transfer portal and searching for a new home entering her sixth year of college basketball. Masonius spent five years as a Terp, blossoming into a strong leader for Maryland.

The forward averaged 6.0 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists during her five year career.

Coach Brenda Frese also saw two freshmen in the Terps’ No. 11 overall Class of 2023 recruiting class according to ESPN depart.

Guard Summer Bostock, who enrolled early, never found her groove with the program. Bostock appeared in only ten games for the Terps averaging 1.7 points and 1.5 rebounds in limited action. She was the first Terp to leave the program, making her decision on March 27.

Former five-star and fellow freshman Riley Nelson joined Bostock in the transfer portal on Tuesday. Nelson’s freshman year got cut short due to an ACL injury in mid-January. The guard was expected to take on a larger role in the Maryland program after recovering from her ACL injury. Nelson averaged 5.1 points and 1.4 rebounds in 16 games.

Frese and the coaching staff must be active in the transfer portal to fill holes on the Terps’ roster. They have garnered no incoming transfers as of Nelson’s announcement.  The Terps have five open scholarships.
