Up two sets to none in its second match of the day, Maryland searched for the sweep of Stony Brook.
The Terps started the third set down 3-0, but a Sam Csire kill helped Maryland get on the board. The kill by Csire sent a wave of momentum through the team, and the Terps went on a 8-0 run to blow the set open.

Maryland volleyball defeated Georgetown and Stony Brook in its Friday doubleheader, both in 3-0 sweeps.
On the road for the first time this season, Maryland faced off against Georgetown in the first game of its Friday doubleheader in the Stony Brook Invitational.
The Terps dominated the Hoyas from start to finish, winning all three sets 25-14, securing the 3-0 sweep.
Entering New York hungry for a win after a loss their last time out to Florida Gulf Coast, the Terps outscored the Hoyas in kills (40), assists (37), blocks (10),aces (10), and overall points (60).
Maryland used its defense to create momentum early in each set, paving the way for the Terps’ sweep. A key player in Maryland’s win against Georgetown was junior Laila Ricks, who showcased a career best game.
Ricks recorded four service aces, the most in her career. Accumulating a .750 hitting percentage during today’s game, Ricks recorded 10 kills on 12 attacks. Ricks also finished with 15.5 points.
Another playmaker in the Terps’ first game included Laila Ivey, who came off an impactful game against Florida Gulf Coast. Ivey led Mayland in the first set with two blocks and four kills.
Ivey finished with 12 points, joining Ricks as the only Terps in double figures against the Hoyas.
Maryland’s second match of the day came a few hours later against Stony Brook.
The Seawolves entered off a 3-2 victory against Fordham.
Set one of the Terps’ second game of the day started out as a neck-and-neck affair until the end, when a kill by junior Sydney Downer secured the Terps the set one victory, 25-19.
In the beginning stages of the second set, the Seawolves and the Terps battled in a back-and-forth contest. Maryland secured momentum in the final stretch of the set thanks to a kill from Ivey, sealing the set to go up 2-0 in the match.
Maryland outscored Stony Brook in the second set 25-20.
The Terps got out to a commanding 20-13 lead in the third set, searching for the nail in the coffin to sweep the Seawolves 3-0.
With time running out for Stony Brook, Ivey recorded a kill to make the score 24-16. Seconds later, Ricks and Anatasia Russ combined for a block that gave both the set and the match win to the Terps.
In the match against the Seawolves, Ivey led the Terps in kills (10). Ricks, coming off of a career best game against Georgetown, led both teams in blocks (10).
The Terps will search for their fifth win of the season against South Florida on Saturday.
