Former Maryland football offensive lineman Spencer Anderson has been selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers with the No. 251 pick in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Anderson joined Jaelyn Duncan as the second Terp offensive lineman taken in the draft, marking the first time in the common-draft era (since 1994) that feat has been achieved.
A three-star recruit from Bishop McNamara, Anderson appeared in at least two games in all five of his seasons in College Park. He became a full-time starter in 2020, starting all of his 31 outings over his final three seasons.
Anderson’s best campaign came in 2021, when he was named an All-Big Ten honorable mention. He earned an 88.6 pass blocking grade according to Pro Football Focus that season, the highest of any offensive lineman in the Big Ten and the 13th-highest among all Power Five players.
The newest member of the Steelers organization was the final of five Maryland selections in the draft, tying the common-draft era program record.
